Where to Find Photos of Hair Styles

Posted by Kenny On March - 30 - 2011

Whether it's a wedding day, a prom, a long day at the office, or another special occasion, choosing a hair style can make or break your entire look. Finding a variety of pictures can help you look at different options and ideas for hair styles that will be most flattering on you. Here are some of the top ways to find good photos of hair styles.

First off, current fashion and beauty magazines will be a great place to start. However, you need to be careful not to fall in love with a look because of the person wearing it. Some stylists believe you should black out the face of the model or celebrity rocking the look because so many women don't realize they actually end up loving the picture or the person - not the actual hair style.

Once you have a few pictures picked out, you should definitely bring them in to your hair stylist to get a second option. You can also run them by friends and family to see what others think would look best on you. Especially if you're planning a special occasion, you need to be sure you find the right hair style. After all, you will probably have pictures taken at the event. You don't want to end up with pictures of you in a look you will regret. The same goes for your cosmetics and fashion choices! For longer events opt for quality products that will last all day from a brand like MAC makeup or Max Factor. For outfit options, stick to chic classics that won't go out of style.

Another good place to look for pictures is online. You can always find sites that have pulled together pictures of styles for all types of hair. Be sure to find styles that compliment what you have to work with. For instance, if you have short hair, you probably aren't going to want to only look at pictures of styles for long hair. Yes, you can always get extensions, but you will want to have options to best feature the hair you already have.

Prenatal Vitamins for Hair Growth: Fact or Fallacy?

Posted by Kenny On March - 30 - 2011

Hair loss can be devastating, and this can cause a person to become desperate.  You may try every fix you've heard of out there, including prenatal vitamins.  You would do much better to save your money and consult a specialist to treat your condition.

The Prenatal Vitamin Fallacy

Prenatal vitamins are designed to provide the extra folic acid and iron that pregnant women and nursing mothers need for their own health and the health of their babies.  Because pregnant women experience lush hair growth, many well-meaning people have erroneously concluded that this growth was the result of their special vitamins.  In fact, pregnancy hormones contribute to most of the extra hair and nail growth.  Taking prenatal vitamins for hair growth is usually just a waste of money.

Prenatal Vitamin Dangers

Women who aren't pregnant, as well as men, have different nutritional needs than pregnant and nursing mothers.  These groups don't need nearly as much folic acid and iron as prenatal vitamins provide.  Too much iron in the body can actually be extremely harmful.  Better to take hair growth vitamins, which are designed not for pregnant women but for people of your age and gender who wish to improve their nutritional health and beauty.

Vitamins for Your Hair

You can find vitamins for hair growth and separately formulated vitamins for hair growth for women and men in general retail stores, supermarkets, chain vitamin stores, and all over the Internet.  Focus on researching these products and learning what the ingredients can and can't do for your hair.  The best vitamins for hair growth include proper levels of vitamins and minerals plus extra herbs to balance hormones and give you the best hair possible.  Leave the prenatal vitamins on the shelf and you've saved that much time in getting to the root of your problem.

Start to Healthy Hair-Healthy Scalp

Posted by saurabh.sahni280691 On March - 28 - 2011

Want healthy, shiny, long and beautiful hair? The mantra is to start from the scratch. Healthy hair can only be earned if u has a healthy scalp. Your scalp conditions also greatly affect the way your hair looks. Oily and greasy scalp makes your hair look flat. Therefore, in order to maintain your beautiful tresses and hair locks, you need to take care of your scalp.   Like any other part of your body, your scalp is also prone to some serious disease conditions. Your scalp skin restores its freshness every 28-30 days. It then sheds dead cells and helps the fresh ones to emerge. Various factors like climatic conditions (hot and cold weather), humidity, pollution, exposure to sun etc. can intervene in this renewing process resulting in piling up of cells and forming flakes. These flakes lead to blocking of the secretion of sebum resulting into dryness.

Generally, thin hair, slow hair growth and hair fall are initial stage problems related to scalp. Moving further, it can go up to dandruff, itchy scalp and peeling scalp. Hair fall is the most common of all scalp problems. Loss of hair while washing, combing and sometimes even sleeping is hair fall. Various reasons can be explained as a cause of hair fall like dandruff, excessive use of chemicals, dryers, improper diet, odd sleeping hours, stress and anxiety etc.

This can be controlled by having a proper balanced diet, taking good care of hair and scalp by massaging it with castor and almond oil regularly, exercise improves blood circulation, and developing healthy eating practices. Another problem is of flakes formation or crusting of the scalp. This is caused by factors like dandruff, head lice which causes itching and redness, ring worms, appear as red circular patches, generally affects the outer scalp, lichen planus, seborrhea, psoriasis and eczema etc.

The worst condition of scalp infections can lead to sores, bumps and blisters. These are caused by viral and fungal infections, allergic reactions to some products or factors, acne, cyst formation etc. even skin cancer can happen on scalp. To avoid any kind of scalp problems, these simple tips should be followed. Wash your hair, on alternate days, to keep away dirt and dust. Massaging your hair regularly, using good oil, to improve and enhance blood circulation.  Comb your hair frequently as it also helps in improving the blood flow.  Avoid using too many hair care products, directly on scalp, as they contain chemicals. Always shampoo your hair after swimming, to wash off chlorine. Do not use tight hats or caps as they may restrict blood flow. Have a separate comb for your hair and never comb your hair when it is wet. Try to avoid much of sun and dust. Never use hot water to wash your hair, as it weakens the roots. Take proper food and lots of fruits and salad in your diet and avoid stress. These simple suggestions can provide you with a healthy scalp and gorgeous looking hair. However it is always recommended to consult a specialist for any kind of scalp problems.

The Benefits of Using a Tourmaline or Ceramic Flat Iron

Posted by Kenny On March - 19 - 2011

Many women would do just about anything for sleek, straight hair. But so many find it almost impossible to achieve. Here are some things to consider if you've ever thought that stick straight hair was beyond your ability to get.

I used to use a drugstore brand hair straightener to get my straight hair look. I felt frustrated because no matter how much i tried, my hair would never get super, super straight. It would always be almost straight, but I just couldn't get that sleek, smooth, shiny look I coveted.

After hearing about tourmaline and ceramic flat irons, I decided to try one for myself. The one I chose was a Sedu Flat Iron, but there are quite a few brands that will give you the same results. Using one of these higher end flat irons made a world of difference.

Most of these more expensive irons use ionic technology which smooths your hair and creates extra shine as it straightens. They don't damage your hair like your typical brand flat irons like the ones you find in drugstores. Drugstore brand straighteners are uneven with their heat and can singe your hair in some places and not straighten it enough in others. It's strange, but even though the tourmaline or ceramic flat irons sometimes use a higher heat setting, they are safer and gentler on your hair because of their superior technology.

Another thing to consider is the price tag. Most quality hair straighteners cost anywhere from $100 to $300 dollars. But many of the ones in the $100 price range can sometimes be found on sale. Most of us aren't in the market to spend a whopping $300 dollars on a hairstyling product. But, by shopping smart and finding sales on the flat iron models in the lower end of that price range, you can get the same straight hair results with a flat iron that does fit in your budget.

Finding the most reliable provider of hair transplant procedures is not as difficult as one may think, and through the modern resources like the Internet and modern communications techniques, finding the best provider for your particular needs is no more difficult than some research online.  Online resources like www.HairTransplantCosts.com and www.HairTransplantNetwork.com are great for learning what the procedures and prices are as well as where the providers in your area are.

Using the information available online can quickly help weed out any less than reputable providers, as most providers have all of their license and qualifying documentation on their websites.  Providers like Dr. Kenneth Siporin (www.drsiporin.com) and the Bernstein Medical Group (www.BernstienMedical.com), in Los Angeles and New York, respectively, are great examples of these.

How much does a hair transplant cost is no indication of the quality of the services or the procedures themselves, and hair transplant cost is only commensurate with the type of procedures being performed and the location of the provider, as cost of living can drastically change the costs.  How much does hair transplant cost is a combination of the cost of the actual procedure, any medications or anesthesia needed, and the amount of individual treatments needed.

The FUE hair transplant cost is quite a bit higher than the FUT technique, but both procedures have their own applications and benefits for particular conditions.  The best way to find out what options are available, in addition to the best providers in a particular area, are through resources online, including those mentioned above, as well as the websites of the providers themselves.  Just as you wouldn’t buy penny stocks to invest in the stock market without consultation, it is important to find a reputable physician or clinic to provide you the advice and options available to you concerning hair transplants. Using these resources can not only help to find the most recognized and trusted providers, but some even allow online users to participate in a consultation with a licensed doctor online, without ever having to leave the house.

Achieve A Natural Look With Lace Front Wigs

Posted by Kenny On March - 8 - 2011

The most current hair sensation enjoyed by celebrities and models is that of wearing lace front wigs. Designed to attain a more natural appearance on the wearer, these wigs have a silky and thin material in the cap that blends more readily into the hairline. The secret is all in the fit of these hairpieces. After placing the wig on the head for the first time, any extra lace right at the wearer's hairline is trimmed away. Then when the piece is worn, the edge of the wig at the hairline blends in quite naturally. The designs of other wigs prevent them from achieving this effect. With lace front wigs, many can achieve the same natural hair look as Beyonce and other famous wearers.

There are two specific characteristics to look for in  lace front wigs that are affordable: a synthetically manufactured hair applied with a glue base. These are more easily created and therefore less expensive. Synthetic hair is easier to obtain than human hair and much more readily available to manufacturers. Gluing is far less time consuming that sewing the hair and clips to the wig.

Some women feel that the best affordable lace front wigs must be made only with human hair. They are easier to put on. The hair is snapped into place with clips. While the human hair is more natural looking and very soft, it can be too expensive for many budgets.

There is another factor to consider in addition to cost. The synthetic hair can be far easier to manage and maintain than wigs of human hair. Real hair has to be shampooed and styles just as if it was attached to the scalp. Otherwise it will not hold its shape and softness. Synthetics are especially good for curly hair styles as they hold the curl for a long time. Some want the convenience and easy care of a synthetic hair wig while others do not mind the extra work of maintaining the look of a real human hair wig because they like its more genuine look.

Shop and compare these products on line and become educated about types and brands of lace front wigs before making a purchase. Read many reviews of products by individuals who have worn the wigs. A clear picture of the most recommended styles and brands with become apparent as you do this.

The ease of wearing and their affordability make lace front wigs a wonderful addition to your hair wardrobe. Why wait on a salon appointment? You can achieve fast and beautiful results by wearing a natural looking wig.

Some Amazing Facts about Natural Hair Colors

Posted by saurabh.sahni280691 On March - 5 - 2011

The color of hair depends on two types of pigments. Firstly eumelanin which is the reason of darker shade of your hair color that is either black or brown and secondly pheomelanin which provides red color to hair. Pheomelanin pigment is present in every human. Different levels of concentration of eumelanin give you different hair colors. A low concentration of brown eumelanin gives blond hair and a low concentration of black eumelanin gives grey hair. A high concentration of brown eumelanin keeps hair dark brown and high concentration of black eumelanin keeps hair deep black.

Brown eumelanin is chemically the most stable pigment, and then is pheomelanin and then black eumelanin. Pheomelanin breaks down very slowly when oxidized. It becomes orange first, then dull yellow and then finally white. This is the reason behind why you get a reddish tinge in dark hair during artificial coloring.

Hair color is also based on a person’s ethnic origins. Hair colors such as black, brown, blond and red are the most common ones. People with brown hair color are mostly found in Europe and are known as brunettes. Higher concentration of eumelanin results in brown color. Their hair is usually thick and sometimes gives a bushy and messy look. Largest numbers of people in this world have black as their hair color. Large amount of eumelanin is the reason for black hair. People with soft black hair or deep black hair or jet black hair, all fall under this category. When both eumelanin and pheomelanin come together in different proportions, they produce different shades of blond hair. It can be platinum blond or golden blond or strawberry blond. Children born with blond hair develop deeper darker hair color as they grow older. Parts of Northern and Eastern Europe mainly consist of those people with blond hair. It is difficult to attain blond hair without having a European heritage. As an exception, Melanesians, a black race, has a high blonde hair rate. Auburn hair is mostly found in people of Northern and Western European ancestry. All shades of red-brown fall under this category. High proportion of pheomelanin and less of eumelanin causes this kind of hair color.

All the above hair colors are caused due to various effects of two pigments in different proportions. But the cause of grey or white hair is not a reaction of any pigment but it is due to lack of pigmentation. The main and the most prominent cause of grey hair is ageing. In some cases even young people face this situation. White or grey hair can also be caused due to various deficiencies, mainly deficiency of B12. Greying of hair also differ from place to place. In white people greying of hair starts in their mid-30s but for Asian people this process starts a bit late in late-30s. Black people retain their black hair color for a longer period of time. Their hair starts greying in mid 40s.

Four Oils to Fight All Your Hair Problems

Posted by saurabh.sahni280691 On March - 4 - 2011

The best way all getting healthy shiny strong hair is to massage your scalp with the appropriate hair oil that suits you. Although oil is basically used when people suffer hair loss but using hair oil without any problem will not cause any side effects, it will rather accelerate your hair growth. Providing nourishment through massaging oil is one of the most natural ways. A list of top oils which will revitalize your hair and give them a new life is presented below.

Olive oil is the first suggestion when it comes to fastest hair growth tip. Olive oil is extracted from olive which is a tree crop of the Mediterranean Basin. It is used for various purposes such as cooking, cosmetics, soaps, etc. but its most essential usage is for hair. It contains vitamin D, vitamin E, niacin and biotin which are needed to get rid of those ugly bald patches on the scalp. Olive oil is considered the best solution for hair loss because the presence of vitamin E in this oil improves blood flow to the scalp which obviously results in stimulating hair growth. Since childhood our elders have been massaging our scalp with coconut oil and that is because it provides complete hair care. Coconut oil is extracted from the kernel of ripened coconut.  It is not expensive like olive oil and hence can be used by masses. It is best used as hair conditioner and should be applied immediately after shower when hair is slightly damp. To avoid greasy look, it should not be applied near roots. Coconut oil not only advances hair growth but also tries to re-correct the damaged hair.

Castor oil is obtained from the castor beans. It is a vegetable oil. It is full of fatty acids such as Ricinoleic acid, Oleic acid, Linoleic acid, Stearic acid, Palmitic acid, etc. and all these acids act as a moisturizer. It prevents scalp from getting dry. Use of castor oil on regular basis prevents thinning of hair which means thick hair is what you get as an end result. For best results, apply castor oil and cover your scalp with a plastic cap and your hair with clean towel. Leave it overnight and rinse scalp in the morning. Repeat this procedure for once in a week and notice the inches added on to the length of your hair after six applications.

How can one forget almond oil when it comes to hair? Extracted from almonds, almond oil provides strength to your hair and do not let hair fall easily off your scalp. The presence of fatty acids softens and nourishes hair. It also acts as a cleansing agent as it collects and absorbs all the dust particles from your hair and after hair wash both oil and dirt get washed off.

With proper usage of these oils, proper diet is also required. Ignoring healthy food will only deteriorate the result.
